Win rate and top-3 rate will show once this horse has raced.
Back To Sea is a five-year-old horse making its racecourse debut under trainer Tom Ellis at Rugby in Warwickshire. By Affinisea out of a Bob Back mare, this is uncharted territory — there is no form to study, no pattern of behaviour on track to predict what might happen when the gates spring open.
What we do know is that the horse comes from a yard in excellent form. Ellis has already sent out 30 winners this season, which suggests a trainer with the ability to get horses ready and competitive. For a debut runner from a yard firing on all cylinders, that counts for something, though it remains true that nothing in racing is certain until the race is run. A five-year-old first-time starter is unusual — most horses race much younger — which may simply mean Back To Sea took longer to develop, or was kept back for other reasons. Either way, debut day will be the real introduction.
