What makes Argentine Tango's story particularly compelling is the trajectory. The first win came at Pontefract in late April 2025, a decent start. Then came a Class 2 win at Beverley in May — a step up in quality. Then, at the end of June, Argentine Tango won the Newmarket July meeting, one of the most prestigious fixtures in the British racing calendar. That is a Class 1 race, the very top tier of the sport. Going from a first-ever win to beating the best horses in the country in under two months is a rapid rise by any measure.

Tim Easterby's yard at Great Habton in North Yorkshire is clearly in fine form — 128 winners this season alone, which tells you this is not a quiet backwater operation but one of the busier and more successful training yards in the north of England. Jockey David Allan is the regular partner, and together they have won 3 of their 10 races — a 30% win rate, or 3 in every 10, which is a strong relationship by any standard. Allan clearly knows this horse well.

The recent form is worth a closer look. Argentine Tango's last six races, most recent first, read 1-6-6-4-7-3. That win at the top of the sequence came at Ayr just this week, which means the horse is bang in form right now. The couple of sixth-place finishes in the middle of that sequence are not alarming — at Class 1 level, where Argentine Tango typically competes, the margins are tight and even a good run can look modest on paper.
