Arctic Dawn

His most recent win came at Doncaster just last week, and before that he got off the mark at Ffos Las in June 2025 on what his jockey David Egan described as testing, wet ground. Egan was bullish afterwards, telling Sky Sports Racing that Arctic Dawn had been the benchmark that day — the horse everyone else needed to find a way past — and that he was a worthy favourite who simply did what was expected of him. That kind of confidence from the saddle means something.

The Kubler yard has been in fine form this season, sending out 34 winners, and trainer comments from earlier in the horse's career suggested Arctic Dawn was something of a work in progress — a horse with a rating in the high 70s who had shown enough in defeat, including a second in a valuable race at Southwell and a fourth at York behind a horse called Mums Tipple despite getting badly boxed in during the race. The feeling was that once everything clicked, the official rating would be underselling him.

His recent form backs that up. Two wins from his last six races — one of them just days ago — is a sharp upturn, and the sequence of results (a win, then a third, then drifting back, then winning again) suggests a horse finding its best level right now. The bulk of his career has come in Class 4 races, where he has won 2 from 12 at a rate of roughly 1 in every 6, but the trajectory is pointing upward. One note of curiosity: regular partner Richard Kingscote has ridden him five times without a win between them, yet Arctic Dawn clearly knows how to win. Sometimes the right race and the right moment just need to align — and right now, that seems to be happening.
