The most striking thing about Anthropologist is what happens when the races are held at Newcastle. Two wins from five races there — that's winning 40% of the time at one track, compared to a career average of roughly 1 win in every 11 races overall. That is a remarkable gap, and it is not a coincidence. Some horses simply suit a particular track's layout, and Newcastle clearly suits this one. The first of those wins came on 7 November 2024, and the most recent just three months ago on 27 March 2026, suggesting the affinity is no one-off.

The distance sweet spot is equally well-defined. Over one mile one furlong to one mile two furlongs, Anthropologist has won 1 from 4 races — a 25% win rate — which is three times better than the overall career average. Shorter or longer, the returns drop away sharply. Keep it in that range at Newcastle and you have a very different horse on your hands.

Most of Anthropologist's races have come at Class 5, the everyday level of British racing, where the horse has managed 1 win from 14 — about 1 in every 14 at that level, which is modest but not unusual for a horse still finding its feet. If it turns up at Newcastle again over a mile or so, it deserves serious attention.
