The headline achievement is a Class 1 victory at Ascot in December 2021 — one of the top races in Britain, at the most prestigious track in the country, and on Annsam's very first career win. Horses spend years trying to reach that level. This one arrived there on debut and delivered. Two months later came another Class 2 success at Newbury, and then a third at Kempton in January 2023. That's three wins at some of the biggest venues in the sport across a two-year window — the kind of record that earns genuine respect.

Away from the glamour tracks, Annsam has also carved out a tidy reputation at Ludlow, winning 2 of just 4 races there. Winning half your races at any track is the sort of thing that makes punters take notice. The most recent of those Ludlow wins came in December 2025, just four months ago, which matters — this is not a horse running on reputation alone. One key ingredient is ground conditions: on wet or muddy ground, Annsam wins 4 of every 8 races, a 50% win rate that is frankly extraordinary and tells you the horse comes alive when the mud flies.

The partnership with jockey Adam Wedge has been central to the story. In 20 races together, they've won 4 times — a 20% win rate, or 1 in every 5 rides — and that kind of established understanding between horse and rider is worth more than the raw number suggests. Trainer Mrs C Williams, based in Llancarfan in the Vale of Glamorgan, has sent out 2 winners from the yard this season, and Annsam is clearly a senior member of the team.

Recent form shows three blanks since that December win, but Annsam raced just one day ago and remains very much in training. At 11, this is a horse with genuine experience and a proven ability to rise to big occasions — and on the right ground, at the right track, it has shown it can still deliver.
