That Staffordshire connection goes back to the beginning: Ambassador's first career win came at Uttoxeter in July 2023, and the course has been kind to it ever since. Its preferred distance of one mile six furlongs to two miles tells you something about its style too — this is a horse that needs time to warm into a race, a stayer rather than a sprinter.

Jockey Joshua Thompson has been the regular partner, and the two have struck up a productive understanding. In 15 races together, Thompson has steered Ambassador to 4 wins — a win rate of 27%, or better than 1 in every 4 rides. That is meaningfully higher than Ambassador's overall record, which suggests Thompson knows how to get the best out of it.
