The most striking number in Akabusi's record is what happens on normal ground: 2 wins from just 5 races, a 40% win rate. That is a remarkable conversion — winning 2 in every 5 races under any conditions is the kind of figure that would make a trainer very happy, and it tells you this horse has a clear preference. When the ground suits, Akabusi is a genuine threat. When it doesn't, the record drops away sharply, which explains some of the seemingly inconsistent form.

Recent runs tell an interesting story. The last six results read 11-4-8-4-1-8 — a bit of a rollercoaster, with a win sandwiched between some modest efforts. That victory came at Newmarket in May 2026, one of the most prestigious venues in British racing, which is worth noting. Winning at Newmarket means beating horses that have often been carefully targeted at the track by some of the biggest stables in the country. The fact that Akabusi got the job done there, even at Class 5 level, is something to take seriously.

Trainer Mike Murphy, based in Westoning, Bedfordshire, has sent out 15 winners already this season — a yard clearly in form and punching its weight. Akabusi has raced just once since that Newmarket win, finishing 11th, and with a race as recently as yesterday the horse is clearly being kept busy. Most of Akabusi's career has been spent at Class 5, where the horse has won 2 from 10 (20%, or roughly 1 in every 5 at that level). That is a solid record, and it suggests this is a horse that belongs in the grade rather than one scraping around hoping for a weak field.

The first career win came at Nottingham in July 2025, so Akabusi has been winning at various tracks and in different circumstances. A horse still learning at three, with a form trainer behind it and a clear fondness for decent ground, is one worth keeping an eye on.
