Being trained by Archie Watson is no small thing. Based in Upper Lambourn in west Berkshire, Watson's yard has fired out 62 winners already this season — a number that reflects an operation running at full tilt. A trainer posting that kind of volume is not doing so by accident; it means horses are being placed in the right races at the right time, and that is exactly the kind of shrewd handling a young horse with potential needs around it.

With only two races to go on, it is still very early days for Abrahamsen. But a two-year-old that wins half its races — 1 from 2 — and has raced as recently as yesterday is clearly a horse being kept busy and in form. The Leicester win was only five weeks ago, so the team clearly like what they see. Whether Abrahamsen can build on that debut success and step up in class is the interesting question from here.
