When a trainer and jockey keep coming back to each other and keep winning together, it usually means they're on the same page about how their horses run — and that matters enormously over a season.

In the last 12 months, Hobbs and White have sent out 291 runners and won with 37 of them — roughly 1 in every 8 — which is a respectable clip, though it's a dip from last season's 18%, when they were winning closer to 1 in every 6. That kind of drop can reflect a tougher schedule, a bigger string, or simply the natural variance of sport. With 126 career winners in just three years, the underlying trajectory is still clearly upward.

What stands out most is the level at which this yard has already competed and won. Many trainers spend decades without a Class 1 victory. Hobbs and White have two before their fourth anniversary. Whatever the current season's numbers look like, that is the benchmark they've already set for themselves.
