Miss Sophie Dobson(7)
Four races in, no winners yet — but that is hardly the story here. Miss Sophie Dobson only took her first recorded ride in April 2025, which means she is operating in the earliest weeks of what could be a very long career. With just four races under her belt, she is still at the stage where simply getting experience on a racehorse in competition is the point.Based on TrackLab's analysis

The "(7)" beside her name is worth explaining. That is a claiming allowance — a weight reduction that amateur and conditional jockeys are given to help level the playing field while they are learning the job. It means that when Dobson rides, her horse carries 7 pounds less than it otherwise would. It is the sport's way of giving newcomers a fair chance while they find their feet.
Four rides tells us almost nothing about ability, and that is not a criticism — it is just arithmetic. The jockeys who matter in five years' time are somewhere in these early numbers right now. Watch this space.
