It tells you he's getting chances there, but not yet the kind of results that would make him first call when a serious ride becomes available.

The one area where Turner genuinely stands out is on wet, heavy ground. Two wins from 22 races in those conditions works out at 9%, meaning he wins roughly 1 in every 11 times when the ground is soft underfoot. That's three times better than his overall season average and not a coincidence — some jockeys simply have a feel for riding through the mud, and Turner appears to be one of them. On a soggy winter afternoon, he's worth a second look.

At 3% this season, there's no point pretending it's been anything other than difficult. But 25 career winners in four years, a clear strength on wet ground, and regular rides for an established yard give him a platform to build from. The numbers need to improve, but the pieces are there.
