When Honeyball puts Godfrey up, it tends to mean something. Building a strong base with one yard is often how young jockeys develop — it gives them consistent opportunities on horses they know, and it gives a trainer confidence to keep calling.

There's also a promising early partnership with Ferret Jeeter, with 1 win from 3 races together. That's too small a sample to read too much into, but at a rate of 1 in 3, it's clearly a combination worth watching. If those two keep being put together, it could become one of the more interesting stories of Godfrey's season.

At 63 career winners and still only four years in, Godfrey is at the stage where the next year or two will be telling. Jockeys at this point in their careers are either starting to push on — picking up bigger yards, better horses, more opportunities — or they plateau. The slight dip in his win rate this season is nothing to panic about, but getting it back above 1 in 10 would be a meaningful statement of intent. He has the foundations; the question now is what he builds on them.
