Zoffman

The most recent win came at Naas on 3 April 2025, so the clock is ticking — it's now been roughly a year since he last got his head in front. His last six runs read 13-7-17-4-8-8, and while a fourth place is respectable, there's a pattern here of a horse who finds a few to beat him. His overall win rate sits at around 1 in every 11 races (9%), which is modest, but the picture brightens considerably when you look at what he does over longer distances. At a mile and three to a mile and four furlongs, he wins 1 in every 5 races — that's 1 from 5 — and that kind of improvement over a specific trip is exactly the sort of detail worth noting when he next lines up.

Zoffman is now a seven-year-old, trained by Noel Meade at Castletown in County Meath. Meade's yard has been in fine form this season, sending out 41 winners, so there's plenty of confidence flowing through the operation. That said, Zoffman's most regular partner Colin Keane hasn't been able to find the winning formula — the pair have raced together 10 times without a win, which is a curious streak for one of Ireland's best jockeys.

He's also returning from a break of around five months, which adds a layer of uncertainty. Horses can come back freshened up and ready to roll, or they can need a run or two to find their rhythm. Given his recent form and the time off, it would be no surprise to see him shake off the rust before returning to his best. But point him at the right distance, on the right day, and Zoffman has shown often enough that he knows how to get competitive.
