What's telling is that the horse hasn't run since early October, despite being trained by Donnacha Aidan O'Brien, a man who runs one of the busiest and most successful yards in Ireland. O'Brien's Ballyroe operation has already sent out 31 winners this season, so Zoar's absence from the track for six weeks suggests the trainer may be regrouping — perhaps waiting for the right race, or giving the horse time to reset. At two years old, Zoar still has time to develop, and a single win in four races is far from a disaster. But the recent form does raise a question: was that August victory a sign of things to come, or a flash that won't repeat? For now, Zoar remains a horse worth watching, if only to find out whether it can recapture what it showed at Naas.
