Zesty Belle

The long break since she last raced — roughly 121 days — adds another question mark. Horses can return from a layoff sharper and fresher, or they can need a run or two to find their rhythm again. Without knowing why she was off the track, it is impossible to say which camp she falls into.

Her trainer, M O Quigley, has sent out just one winner this season, which suggests a small or developing yard rather than a powerhouse operation. That does not mean Zesty Belle cannot win — every trainer has their day — but it does mean there is limited evidence to point to when building a case for her. Right now, she is a horse with more questions than answers, and her next run will tell us quite a lot about where her career goes from here.
