What's encouraging about Zarenakarena's recent pattern is the upward momentum. Before last week's triumph, the form read 14th and 11th, so the ninth-place finish that followed the win is not quite a step backward in the bigger picture. The Harty yard, which has sent out 16 winners already this season, will be hoping that the breakthrough at Roscommon proves to be the start of something rather than a one-off flash. With racing luck and the right conditions, a 4-year-old who has finally found the winner's circle can sometimes string together better things. For now, though, Zarenakarena remains a horse very much still finding its way at this level.
