The recent form figures — 8, 15, 8, 14, 5, 11 — tell their own story. That fifth-place finish stands out as the closest thing to a bright spot in an otherwise difficult sequence, but even then, fifth is fifth. The fact that Zammawar raced as recently as yesterday at least tells you the yard hasn't given up on it, and Fahey's team have sent out three winners already this season, so there is some form in the yard.
Jockey Rory Cleary has been on board for five of those seven races together and has yet to ride Zammawar into any sort of winning position. That's not necessarily a criticism of either horse or rider — sometimes partnerships just need time — but five runs without a sniff of a finish is a combination that will need to change something to get a different result. At this point, every race is really about finding the right conditions for this horse to finally show what, if anything, it has to offer.
