Zain Primus

The short break since that debut is fairly routine at this stage of a young horse's career, and it now returns to the track with that first experience in the bank. Trained by John Butler at Newmarket — one of the heartlands of British racing, where horses work on some of the finest gallops in the world — Zain Primus is in capable hands. Butler's yard has sent out 27 winners so far this season, which shows this is an operation that knows how to get horses ready to perform. That kind of backing matters for a young horse still finding its feet.

There simply is not enough history here yet to make bold predictions. One race tells you a horse can handle a track and cope with competition, but not much more. The interesting question is what comes next.
