What makes the situation a little puzzling is the yard behind it. Trainer P J Rothwell, based in Tinahely, County Wicklow, has sent out 36 winners already this season — that is a yard operating with real momentum and genuine ability to get horses ready to win. When a stable is producing results at that rate, a horse that has run six times without troubling the judge tends to stand out for the wrong reasons. Either Youknowme is still finding its feet, or the yard are searching for the right race to unlock something.

Having raced as recently as yesterday, Youknowme is clearly an active project rather than a forgotten one. Rothwell is still running it, still looking for an answer, and that persistence from a yard with plenty of winners elsewhere suggests there may be some belief that a better day is coming. Whether that day arrives soon is another question entirely — but for now, Youknowme remains one of those horses that keeps turning up without quite delivering.
