That's not a horse in freefall — it's a horse that keeps showing up and finishing close. Yehudi raced just yesterday, which tells you trainer Mark Loughnane at Rock Farm in Worcestershire keeps this one busy and believes there's a race to be won. That faith is notable given Loughnane's yard has sent out 25 winners this season — these are people who know what a winning horse looks like, and they're still running Yehudi.

Most of those efforts have come at Class 6, the entry-level tier of British racing, where Yehudi has run 10 times without winning. That's a concern if you're looking for reasons for optimism, because Class 6 is precisely where a horse like this should be finding opportunities. Zero wins from 10 races at that level — and zero from 8 races alongside regular jockey Billy Loughnane — means the partnership hasn't clicked yet in terms of results, even if the places keep coming. At some point, close has to become first.

The question Yehudi poses is a simple and genuinely interesting one: is this a horse that is right on the edge of winning and simply needs one thing to fall its way — a soft pace, a drop in the weights, a day when the others just don't fire — or is placing its ceiling? Sixteen races is a decent sample. The answer is coming one way or another, and with Loughnane still running it this frequently, clearly the yard believes the win is still in there somewhere.
