Wood Whisperer

The recent form figures tell a story of modest improvement, at least. Finishing fourteenth and twelfth in its last two outings, Wood Whisperer had previously shown a little more — a fifth, a sixth, a seventh, and another fifth in the runs before that. So there is some evidence the horse is finding its feet and running more consistently in the middle of the pack, even if the front of the race remains a distant prospect. It raced just yesterday, so it is clearly in an active campaign, and the team evidently believes there is something worth persisting with.

Whether that optimism is justified remains to be seen. Eight races is enough of a sample to draw some conclusions, and a horse that has not placed once is asking its yard for a considerable amount of patience. The next few weeks will be telling.
