At three years old, there is still time for things to click. Some horses of this age take a while to mature physically and mentally, and the fact that Wondrous raced just yesterday means the team clearly believe there is something worth persisting with. Michael Bell's yard at Newmarket has sent out 44 winners already this season, which is a healthy return and speaks to a training operation that knows how to get horses ready to perform. When a yard of that calibre keeps running a horse, it usually means they can see potential that the results do not yet reflect.

Whether Wondrous can translate that potential into a first win remains to be seen. For now, it remains winless and without a place from six attempts — but it is young, active, and in the hands of an experienced team. The next race will tell us something.
