Wonderwalk

The recent form offers the tiniest glimmer of something. A fifth and a sixth in the middle of those last six runs suggests there have been moments where Wonderwalk was at least in the same conversation as the front-runners. But the two most recent efforts — finishing 14th twice in a row — show a horse that is currently running toward the back of the field rather than away from it. Racing just one day ago, Wonderwalk is as active as they come, but activity and improvement are two very different things.

Eighteen races is a meaningful sample size. At some point, a horse either finds its level or finds a race that suits it. So far, Wonderwalk has found neither. Whether a change of surface, a drop in class, or simply a race with fewer rivals might unlock something different is a question the yard will need to answer — because on the evidence of what we have seen, patience alone has not been enough.
