Windmill is a two-year-old with exactly one race to its name, run just yesterday. It finished tenth. That is not the kind of performance that sets pulses racing, but for a young horse stepping out for the very first time, finishing a race and getting the experience under its belt is genuinely part of the process. A tenth-place finish tells us almost nothing useful yet — it simply means the horse has been around the track once and has a trainer who sends out winners regularly enough that confidence in the future is not misplaced.
With no wins and no place finishes from that single outing, there is nothing to analyse beyond the bare fact of the debut itself. The interesting question is what comes next. Sangster's team has clearly built a productive yard, and two-year-olds very often look unrecognisable between their first and second races once they understand what is being asked of them. For now, Windmill is a blank page — one race run, story yet to be written.
