Whistling Dave

Whistling Dave made a winning debut at Chepstow this week, crossing the line first in what looks like the start of something promising. The 3-year-old is trained by Dan Skelton, whose Alcester yard has already sent out 198 winners this season — a sign that the horse is in capable hands. With a perfect record of one win from one race, Whistling Dave is exactly what every trainer dreams of: a horse that gets the job done first time out. What happens next will tell you whether this was a genuine performance or a lucky break. Either way, the yard will be keen to build on it.
