We Never Stop

The record reads five wins and 11 places from 29 races — a win rate of 17%, or roughly 1 in every 6 outings. That might not sound spectacular, but context is everything here. The vast majority of those races have come at Class 2 level, which in Britain means the second tier of competition. Three of those five wins have come in Class 2 races, at a rate of 1 win in every 6 or 7 attempts at that level. Plenty of horses spend their whole careers failing to win at this standard even once.

Two tracks stand out. Pontefract gave We Never Stop its first ever win, back in July 2023, and Southwell has since become something of a home away from home — two wins from just five visits there, a 40% record that any trainer would take. The most recent of those Southwell wins came in March 2025, followed swiftly by another Class 2 success at Newcastle in April. Back-to-back wins at that level inside six weeks is the kind of form that makes people pay attention. Normal ground suits best: three wins from ten races on a decent surface, a 30% record that drops sharply on anything softer or faster.

The partnership with jockey Shane Gray is worth noting. In 22 races together they have won five times — that's a win rate of 23%, or almost 1 in every 4-and-a-half rides. For context, that's noticeably better than the horse's overall record, which suggests Gray reads this particular animal well. Trainer Kevin Ryan, based in North Yorkshire, has sent out 45 winners already this season — a yard clearly in good form.

The recent numbers need a little explaining. We Never Stop has not won in its last six races, with finishes of 7th, 9th, 3rd, 8th, 19th and 16th. That third place is a flicker of interest, but the trend since April 2025 has been flat. Whether the horse is running out of form or simply waiting for the right conditions again is the question worth watching. With the right ground and the right track, this one has shown it can still mix it with good horses.
