The most telling fact is that Watch The Weather runs noticeably better with Rachael Blackmore in the saddle. That is the difference between a plodding campaigner and something with genuine racing talent. Equally striking is its form at Wexford, where it has won two of six races. Horses that dominate a particular course often do so for reasons that matter — they suit the track's shape, or they thrive on its particular surface. The horse also runs better when the ground is slightly soft, winning two of nine races on those conditions compared to its meager overall win rate. Its last success came at Punchestown on 23 November 2024, nearly two years ago now, and recent form has been decidedly ordinary — three third-place finishes and a fifth from its last six runs. At ten years old and racing actively as recently as a day ago, Watch The Weather is still turning up for work, but it is chasing its next winning opportunity rather than enjoying one.
