Walnut Cove

Walnut Cove is a 2-year-old trained by Aidan O'Brien at Cashel in County Tipperary. The horse made its debut just a day ago and finished outside the top three, which is not uncommon for a first-time runner. O'Brien's yard is among the most successful in the game — they have sent out 125 winners already this season — so there is good reason to think Walnut Cove will have had a thorough preparation for that opening race. Early form can be misleading with young horses, especially over a single outing. The real test will come in the races ahead.
