Walls Cross

The most recent outing, just yesterday, resulted in an eighth-place finish, which suggests things didn't fall into place on the day. With only two runs on the clock, though, it would be premature to read too much into that. Young horses often need time to figure out what racing is asking of them, and two runs is barely enough to form a pattern.

Walls Cross is trained by Timothy Doyle out of Moyne in County Tipperary, a yard that has produced two winners already this season. The operation is modest in scale, which means individual horses tend to get time and attention rather than being rushed through a busy string. Whether Walls Cross develops into something more than a work in progress remains to be seen — but at four years old and with racing experience still being gathered, the story here is very much still being written.
