The recent form doesn't offer much encouragement either. Over the last six races, the best result was a fourth place, with an eighth, an eleventh, a seventh, a sixth, and a seventh making up the rest of the picture. That eleventh-place finish in particular points to at least one day where things went badly wrong. Racing 12 times and not winning once is one thing, but finishing as far back as eleventh suggests there are races where Walk On Annilog simply hasn't been in the conversation at all.
Mr B Barry has been the regular rider, partnering the horse five times without a win between them. That's not a criticism of either — sometimes a horse and jockey combination just hasn't found the right race yet — but five rides and no wins does underline that this hasn't been a partnership producing results so far. Notably, Walk On Annilog ran just yesterday, so whoever trains this horse clearly still believes there's something worth chasing, even at seven years old and without a win on the board. Persistence is admirable, but at some point the question becomes whether the right race simply hasn't come along yet, or whether winning just isn't in this particular horse's repertoire.
