The recent form does offer one small ray of light. That second-place finish five races ago shows the ability is in there somewhere, but the runs either side of it — finishing fifth, seventh, sixth, and seventh — suggest it has been frustratingly inconsistent rather than building toward something. The most recent outing, an eighth-place finish, was a step in the wrong direction, and the horse heads into its next race after a 76-day break having never converted its occasional promise into an actual win.
At seven, racehorses are not young. Most have either found their level or found the winner's enclosure by now. Walk On Annilog has done neither, which makes the next run genuinely curious — will the freshen-up help, or is this simply a horse that comes close without ever getting there?
