The overall record is striking for a young horse still learning the game: two wins and three places from four races means Waasil wins roughly one in every two races it runs. That kind of win rate — 50 per cent — is remarkable at this level and suggests real ability. Waasil has raced only four times, so there is not a huge body of work, but the consistency of finishing either first or in the money in every outing tells you this is a horse that shows up and performs. The most recent run, just yesterday, brought a fourth-place finish, which breaks the streak but is a minor blip on a genuinely impressive early record.

Waasil is trained by K. R. Burke at Coverham in North Yorkshire, a yard that has already sent out 145 winners this season. Burke clearly knows how to prepare a young horse and get it competitive fast. At only 2 years old and with just four races under its belt, Waasil is still developing, but the early signs point to a horse with a real future in the sport.
