The three-year-old has raced three times without winning, but she hasn't been disgraced either. Every single run has produced a placing — a second and two thirds — which tells you she's consistently competitive, just not quite finding that extra gear when it matters most. She raced as recently as yesterday, so she's fit, active, and clearly in a routine that's keeping her sharp.
The honest truth is that zero wins from three races sounds underwhelming until you consider the context. A horse finishing in the top three on every outing isn't struggling — she's learning, building race experience, and doing so in a yard that produces winners at a remarkable rate. With 140 wins this season alone, the Gosden team clearly know how to place a horse and find the right opportunities. If Velvet Vega is still searching for her first win, it's likely a matter of when rather than if.
