Murtagh clearly knows his way around a horse, and Vanir's single success suggests there is ability there to be found. The gap of eight weeks between his one win and his most recent outing hints at either a break for improvement or patience with a horse still learning his trade. At three years old, Vanir is at an age where improvement is possible, though his recent efforts—largely mid-field finishes—suggest he may need to recapture whatever he found at Fairyhouse to show he is a genuine contender rather than a one-race wonder.
