The pattern becomes clearer when you look at ground conditions. On normal going, Typeface is a different proposition entirely: 2 wins from 4 races means it wins roughly half the time when the track is neither waterlogged nor baked hard. Take it away from those conditions, and the record falls apart. That specificity—thriving on one type of ground at one particular track—is not a weakness in a trainer's hands; it is a roadmap. Williams runs a successful yard, with 96 winners sent out this season, so he has the reach to find the right opportunities.

The recent form, though, is a concern. Typeface raced six times over the past eleven months without visiting the winner's circle, finishing third twice but mostly struggling down the card. The most recent outing was just a day ago, and it came nowhere near the front. At this point Typeface needs either a return to Ffos Las on normal ground—its comfort zone—or a reset. At Class 6 level, where it has won 2 of 6 races (33%), there is still competitive scope. Whether Williams can find the right race to rekindle what worked last August remains to be seen.
