Both wins came at Ffos Las, the Welsh seaside track, and both arrived in the summer of 2025 within a fortnight of each other — 29 July and 13 August. That kind of back-to-back success at the same venue is worth noting. Some horses simply click with a particular track, and Typeface may well be one of them. When the ground is riding normally — not too wet, not too firm — the numbers get genuinely interesting: 2 wins from just 3 races on that surface, a hit rate of 67%. In other words, put Typeface on its preferred ground and it wins more often than not.

The recent form tells a different story, though. The last 6 races have produced nothing better than a pair of second places, and the last win now sits 10 months in the past. The two places in that sequence show the ability is still there, but converting it into a win has proven difficult. That said, Typeface raced just yesterday, so the team clearly still believes there's a race to be won.

Behind the horse is one of the more productive yards in the country right now. Trainer Ian Williams, based in Worcestershire, has sent out 96 winners already this season — a remarkable volume that speaks to a well-organised, firing operation. A trainer hitting those numbers tends to know exactly where and when to place a horse, and the fact that Typeface keeps turning up suggests Williams sees more wins ahead.

Most of Typeface's racing has come at Class 6, the entry level of British racing, where it has won 2 of 6 races — exactly 1 in 3. That's a decent record at that level, and it tells you this is a horse that competes at the accessible end of the sport, where fields are competitive and wins are genuinely hard to come by. Catch it back at Ffos Las on normal ground, and it would be worth a second look.
