Trained by Conrad Allen at Newmarket, one of British racing's most famous centres, Tyger Bay operates mainly at Class 5 level — the bread-and-butter tier where most races in the country are run. At that level, it has been outstanding, winning 7 from 28 races, which works out at roughly 1 in every 4. That is a genuinely impressive record and suggests a horse that, when dropped into the right company, is difficult to beat.

The most recent win came at Chelmsford in March 2026, about three months ago, and recent form makes very encouraging reading: in the last six races, it has finished second, first, unplaced, second, fourth, second. Four finishes in the top two from six outings is the kind of form a trainer dreams about, and Allen's yard has been in fine fettle this season, sending out 13 winners already.

One thing worth watching is conditions. On wet or muddy ground, Tyger Bay wins 2 from 9 races — roughly 1 in every 4 — which suggests it handles that kind of surface well rather than merely tolerating it. It is not a specialist mud-lover by any means, but it is clearly not put off when the ground gets soft, which is more than can be said for plenty of horses.

The partnership with jockey Joe Leavy is worth noting too. Across 12 races together, they have won 3 times — that is 1 in every 4, well above the horse's overall win rate of roughly 1 in every 7. When Leavy is in the saddle, something tends to click. Whether that is down to riding style, timing, or simple chemistry between horse and rider is hard to say, but the numbers make a convincing case that this is a combination worth following.
