Lavelle has sent out 47 winners this season, which is a serious number, and Two To Tango's improvement fits the picture of a well-managed yard finding the best in their horses.

The one puzzle worth noting is his record at Class 4 level — the grade he most often competes at — where he has run 12 times without winning. Fifteen places from 19 races overall tells you he belongs at this level, but converting those near-misses into victories has proven difficult. Regular partner Tom Bellamy has ridden him in five of those races without a win between them, though Bellamy was aboard for plenty of those placed efforts, so the partnership hasn't been a disaster — just not yet a winning one.

What makes Two To Tango interesting right now is momentum. He raced just yesterday, is clearly fit and active, and has not finished outside the top three in his last six outings. For a horse who spent most of his career threatening rather than delivering, that run of form is the most compelling thing about him. Whether he can turn another promising run into a second career win remains the question — but right now, he looks as likely to do it as he ever has.
