What we do know is that Twilight Fox comes from an interesting family on paper. The sire, Twilight Son, was a high-class sprinter in his own right, and the mare's side brings in the influence of Le Havre, a French stallion whose offspring have tended to be versatile and progressive. Whether any of that translates to the track is exactly what today is designed to find out.
The trainer is Henry Candy, whose Kingston Warren stable in Oxfordshire has been in decent form this season — nine winners already on the board, which suggests the yard is ticking along nicely. Candy is an experienced handler with a long record of producing young horses at the right moment, so Twilight Fox arrives with at least some confidence behind the scenes. First-time-out two-year-olds are always a leap of faith, but there are worse hands to be making that leap in.
