Twelve Bars is a two-year-old with just one race under its belt, finishing second on debut a day ago. The horse is trained by
Hugo Palmer at Malpas in Cheshire, a yard that has been in excellent form this season with 67 winners already. Palmer runs one of the busier operations in British racing, and his record suggests Twelve Bars has landed in a place where young horses are given genuine opportunities to develop and improve. A single race is far too small a sample to draw any meaningful conclusions about what this horse might become, but the fact that it was placed first time out suggests there was at least something competent about the performance. Debut runners often improve sharply on their second outing, and with Palmer's track record, there is every reason to expect Twelve Bars to be back on the track soon with a better understanding of what racing demands.
