The recent run of form makes for sobering reading. Over the last six races, the best result was a second-place finish, but that has been bookended by some disappointing efforts, including an eighth and a twelfth. A horse that finishes second suggests it can compete, but one that also finishes twelfth suggests the level of performance isn't yet consistent. That inconsistency is probably the most honest summary of where True Harmony stands right now.
Philip Donovan has been in the saddle for five of those eight races and the pair have yet to win together, which at this stage feels less like bad luck and more like a combination still waiting for things to click. Trainer Seamus Neville, based in Bridgetown, Co Wexford, has sent out three winners this season, so the yard clearly knows how to get a horse to the front — True Harmony just hasn't been one of them yet. The horse raced as recently as yesterday, so the yard are clearly keeping faith and continuing to look for the right opportunity.
At eight races in and still winless, the clock is ticking. Some horses take time to find their rhythm, and a second place from eight attempts tells you True Harmony isn't without hope. But it will need to find both consistency and a bit more improvement if it's going to finally get its head in front.
