Treaty Boy

The horse clearly has a preferred distance and a preferred track. At distances between a mile and six furlongs and two miles, Treaty Boy really comes alive — he has won 2 of his 11 races at those trips, a rate of about 1 in 5.5, substantially better than his overall record. Better still is his record at Catterick Bridge, where he has won 2 of his 6 races, making him something close to a specialist there. His last win came at that track on 25 February 2025, though that victory is now 20 months old. Stuart Coltherd, his trainer at Selkirk in Roxburghshire, has built a modest operation but knows where Treaty Boy belongs.

Recent form tells a harder story. In his last six races, Treaty Boy has not found the winner's circle, accumulating a series of fourth-place finishes and lower efforts. He was still racing just a day ago, though, so the yard are clearly not done with him yet. He may be nine years old and past his peak, but there is still a racetrack role for a horse as game and as track-savvy as this one — especially when you point him back towards Catterick Bridge and that stretch of ground between a mile and six furlongs and two miles where he knows how to win.
