Tosca No Candis

What's encouraging is the pattern of the recent form. After that breakthrough at Dundalk on 15 August, Tosca No Candis came second next time out, then ran fifth three times in a row. That string of fifths might look discouraging on the surface, but it's not uncommon for a young horse to have patchy form as it learns the game. The fact that it won and placed within its first five races means it has already shown it belongs at whatever level it's competing at.

The trainer is Robson De Aguiar's yard at Mullingar in Westmeath, which has sent out 16 winners this season — a decent rate that suggests a yard with some form. Tosca No Candis raced just yesterday, so it's clearly in active work and the the yard are keeping it busy. At two years old, this horse is still in the early chapters of its story. The win at Dundalk proved it can get the job done, and now it's a matter of whether it can do it more often.
