Top Of The League
Four yards in Cork would kill for the kind of steady platform
Daniel G Murphy has quietly built in Midleton, and Top Of The League is one of the horses carrying the flag this season. The five-year-old has run just once so far, picking up a place without yet getting to the winner's enclosure — a modest start on paper, but there is nothing unusual about a horse taking a race or two to find its feet.

Our model's view, based on this horse's career and recent runs
Murphy's yard has sent out four winners this season, which tells you this is a trainer who knows how to get a horse ready to perform. The fact that Top Of The League managed a placed finish first time out suggests the groundwork has been done — it was competitive enough to matter, just not quite enough to win. That is not a bad foundation to build on.
With only one race to go on, it is too early to draw any firm conclusions about where this horse is headed. But it ran just a day ago, so the team will soon have a clearer picture of how it came out of that effort and what the next step looks like.
