That third-place finish is the highlight of the card so far, a reminder that there is some ability in there. The challenge now is turning near-misses and mid-pack efforts into something more meaningful. At three years old, there is still time — horses at this age are still developing, still learning their job, and some take longer than others to put it all together.

Too Darn Spicy is trained at Musley Bank in North Yorkshire by Richard and Peter Fahey, a yard that clearly knows how to get horses winning. With 23 winners already on the board this season, the Fahey operation is one of the more productive in the north of England — so the support structure is there. The fact that this particular horse hasn't found the winner's enclosure yet isn't for want of good preparation. Having raced just one day ago, Too Darn Spicy is right in the thick of an active campaign, and the team will be hoping that one of these runs soon clicks into place.
