Three-year-olds are often still developing physically and mentally through the spring and summer, and form that looks modest in April can look like a foundation by August. Whether Timely Salute is heading in that direction remains to be seen.

The horse is trained by William Knight out of Newmarket, one of the most famous racing towns in the world and home to dozens of yards. Knight's operation has been in decent shape this season — 27 winners sent out already is a solid return and suggests a yard that knows how to get a horse ready to run its best. Having a competent, active trainer behind a young horse with work still to do is probably the most encouraging thing on Timely Salute's CV right now.
