That partnership is worth noting if you're following the horse. Thurso has also shown he performs best over shorter distances, between 5 furlongs and 6½ furlongs, where he's won 3 of 13 races (23%), again better than his general record suggests. He typically races at Class 5 level, where he's won 3 of 11 (27%), showing this is his natural home rather than something he's outgrown.

His most recent run came just over a week ago, and while he didn't win — a long tail of results including a fourth and a mid-field finish — he remains active and competing. His last victory was at Bath on 12 May, five months back now, so there's a drought here. But with Thurso's particular preferences — the right jockey, fast ground, the right distance, the right class — there will be opportunities ahead.
