What's worth noting is that this is a horse who only raced yesterday, so we're looking at a live, active campaign still very much in progress. Two-year-olds are notoriously slow to find their feet — they're essentially teenagers being asked to perform at a high level — and plenty of horses who look ordinary at this stage come good once they settle into the job. Three races is a small sample, and finishing second at least once suggests Thunda Struck isn't simply making up the numbers.

The trainer, David Loughnane, operates out of Stoke Heath in Shropshire and has had a productive season, sending out 38 winners. That kind of output means the yard clearly knows how to place horses and get results, which matters when you're trying to find the right opportunity for a young horse who's still searching for that first win. If Loughnane spots the right spot, Thunda Struck looks capable of taking it.
