Three Tribes

The recent form makes for uncomfortable reading. In the last six races, the best finish recorded was fifth, with results of 12th, 9th, and 12th also on the board — meaning Three Tribes has regularly been finishing near the back of the field rather than just missing out narrowly. That is an important distinction. This is not a horse that keeps running a close fourth and getting unlucky; it has been well beaten on multiple occasions.

Robbie Geoghegan has been the regular rider, partnering Three Tribes in six of those seven career races without managing a single win or place between them. That kind of consistency, unfortunately, is the wrong kind — though it is worth noting that the results suggest the issue lies with the horse rather than the jockey.

Three Tribes is now returning from a break of roughly 10 months, which is a significant absence. Whether that time away has been spent addressing a physical issue or simply freshening the horse up, only the team will know. Horses do occasionally return from long breaks and surprise everyone, but on the evidence available, punters and casual observers alike would need a compelling reason to expect a different outcome this time around.
