That matters more than it might sound: horses racing while fresh from a win often carry confidence, and the fact that this one raced just a day ago suggests the team at Kevin Ryan's yard in Hambleton are happy with how it has come out of the race.

Kevin Ryan is one of the more reliable trainers in the north of England, and 45 winners in a single season is a serious number — it means his horses are winning roughly every few days, and when a horse leaves his yard for a race, it tends to be ready. Tom Eaves has ridden There's A Chance five times, winning once from those five — that's a 1-in-5 success rate together, or 20%, which is actually a decent partnership record at this level.

The recent form does ask one question worth noting. The sequence reads 1-3-7-8-1-4 going back in time, meaning the horse sandwiched two strong finishes around a couple of poor ones in the middle. Those seventh and eighth-place efforts suggest There's A Chance is not entirely consistent — some days it fires, some days it doesn't. But the two wins either side of that dip show it can bounce back, and the Haydock victory this week looks like exactly the right kind of form to take into whatever comes next. For a horse that is still only 3 years old and clearly still learning its trade, the upward trend at the right moment is the most encouraging thing here.
