Both of those career wins came back to back, in the space of ten days in late 2025. The first arrived at Thurles on 27 November, and the second followed at Cork on 7 December. Two wins in ten days after a career that had previously drawn a blank is the kind of run that makes you think a horse has finally figured something out — whether that is a drop in class, a surface that suited, or simply a moment of confidence that snowballed. Whatever the reason, winning 2 of his last 6 races represents a very different horse from the one his overall career record suggests.
Since that Cork victory, however, the wheels have come off again. His last six results, reading from most recent backwards, show two unplaced runs, a fourth, two more blanks, then those back-to-back wins buried in the middle. He raced just yesterday, so he is clearly being kept busy, but the momentum from December has not carried through. That seven-month gap since his last win is the thing to watch.
Niall Moore has been the regular partner in the saddle, but the pair have not yet managed to win together across seven attempts. That is not unusual — sometimes a horse and jockey combination just does not click — but it does suggest Barcoe's yard might benefit from a change when the right opportunity comes around. The yard itself has sent out 7 winners this season, so it is not a yard short of confidence or ability. Theanniversary Man just needs to rediscover what made those November and December runs so special.
